Our Origin: South Main Supply (Akron, OH)
Building 9 established its roots in 1983 under the name South Main Supply in Akron, Ohio. Operating out of a substantial 60,000 square foot industrial warehouse, our early operations specialized in wholesale distribution of exterior home improvement supplies, structural plywood, vinyl siding, commercial doors, and replacement window systems.
By prioritizing bulk inventory purchases and volume-driven cost control, we earned a strong reputation among regional builders and commercial buyers for providing top-grade building products at prices well below market averages.
Strategic Inventory Expansion & Massillon Logistics Hub
To accommodate soaring demand from trade buyers and commercial property managers, Building 9 expanded its operational footprint in 1998 by launching a major distribution warehouse in Massillon, Ohio.
This expansion enabled direct multi-truckload purchasing strategies. We established direct distribution agreements with industry leaders such as MasterBrand Cabinetry (Schrock and Aristokraft lines) and Pella Windows. By purchasing complete factory closeouts, manufacturer overruns, and surplus allocations, we unlocked unmatched profit margins for our trade partners.
Modern State-of-the-Art Distribution Facility (Medina, OH)
In August 2015, following a major regional infrastructure development, Building 9 consolidated operations into a newly constructed, state-of-the-art 42,000 square foot showroom and logistics warehouse located at 546 Medina Road (Route 18) in Medina, Ohio.
